36 Kilometres of Pure Joy: the Spring Bivouac Camp
Spring 2026 — Brussels & Namur
This year, the hiking season hit hard again! As part of Antoine’s project — tackling the Camino de Santiago in several stages — a group of eight young people came together: Brussels participants were joined by young people from Namur, to everyone’s great delight.
Day one: 8 kilometres were on the programme. But the sun, finally back after a long winter, had other plans — we ended up walking 13 km! The evening wrapped up with our tents pitched on a tennis court, a simple but satisfying meal, and conversations around the campfire.
Day two: another 13 km under a generous sun, with highly motivated young people. This time, we set up camp in the garden of a local resident, whom we warmly thank for a welcome worthy of a five-star campsite!
Final day: time to head home, with 10 last kilometres in our legs… and a well-deserved portion of fries to round it all off.
What do we take away from this camp? Going back to simple things does us good. It helps us better appreciate comfort — and above all, human connection. An experience absolutely worth repeating!
