Cross-border citizenship Europe – Africa

15th of December 2019

Our colleague Moussa Sow, a street educator in Senegal and an international reference in the defence and promotion of children’s rights, visited the Euskadi-New Aquitaine-Navarre Euroregion to share his work with children and young people, and his vision of cross-border work.

In fact, part of the tasks he carries out in Senegal with the NGO “Avenir de l’Enfance” (Future for children) with the street population is to help adolescents return to their families after living on the street. This process, often very long, is carried out in Senegal, but also in host countries such as Gambia, Mauritania, Mali, Guinea…

We exchanged around the realities and approaches of each one, shifting between international cooperation, awareness of migration, the involvement of young people, the role of the school or social services …

Moussa Sow connected us to other latitudes and gave his vision by reminding us of the joy of education and community development.
