Final report: Study on Street Children in Kinshasa
The objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of two programs (DGD 2022-2026 ‘Protection and Multidimensional Accompaniment for Street Children and Vulnerable Children in the DRC‘ and WBI 2022-2025 ‘Socio-professional Integration of Street Youth in the DRC‘)on street children in Kinshasa at both the start and the end of their implementation.
The study focuses on assessing:
- Children’s Self-perception: How street children perceive themselves and their place within their communities;
- Community and Family Perception: How families and close communities perceive these children and young people.
Specifically, the study aims to measure, analyze, and compare changes over time in different aspects related to the protection, discrimination, and participation of street children at the beginning and end of the program cycle.
The study was conducted by Professor Raoul Kienge-Kienge, Professor at the Faculty of Law and Director of the School of Criminology at the University of Kinshasa. This document, published in August 2023, constitutes the final report of the first phase of the study. The second phase is planned for late 2025 to early 2026.
