AMERICAS 2020-2022: Advocacy actions for the human rights approach and the gender perspective in social street education and networking.
The social exclusion phenomenon is worsening, in Europe and Latin America, and violation of rights of vulnerable populations increases, in particular among young people who live in the streets, isolated and far from socio-educational services.
The AMERICAS project aims to promote the methodology of social street education by strengthening it through an approach of respect of the human rights and a gender perspective. Considering young people as subjects of rights is an advocacy message that this project wants to strengthen.
The project, supported by Erasmus +, will be carried out by 3 European platforms and 6 platforms from the Americas, members of DISWN. It will include capacity building activities for youth workers in the field of street education and better political recognition of its methodology to improve youth policies in favor of young people in difficulty, including the defense of their rights and gender equality perspective.
The project will involve a constant synergy between training, capacity building of project partners and advocacy actions. Several results are expected: the production of awareness-raising material, videos, a document with recommendations for carrying out advocacy in matters of gender and human rights as well as a methodological guide to good practices.
